End of qualification series at Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda: Marco Aloisi is leading
Riva del Garda – With a total of six races held over two days, the qualifying series of the Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda has come to an end, an event reserved for the Optimist class which, with its over one hundred participants, officially opens the competitive season of Fraglia Vela Riva.
Contested taking advantage of a Peler variable in intensity and in pouring rain, the regattas highlighted the excellent form of Marco Aloisi, who finished outside the heat podium on only one occasion, which coincided with an early start. The young helmsman of Fraglia Vela Riva took command of the ranking with authority, so much so that he boasted a margin of fifteen points over Vittoria Berteotti, another athlete of the Riva association who finished first in the fourth race and currently second overall, and over Mattia Cesare Valentini, sailor from the Marina di Carrara Nautical Club who shares second place on equal points.
Completing the provisional top five are Francesco Colotto of the LNI of La Spezia, who embellished his score line by winning the second race, and the German Quirin Klapper, only three points behind the third step of the podium.
The results achieved to date have allowed the Regatta Officials to separate the participants into two fleets, promoting the top fifty-one in the provisional ranking to Gold Fleet, destined to produce the name of the winner; from the fifty-second onwards, however, they found a place in Silver Fleet.
The final series will open tomorrow morning at 10 am with the first races for Gold and Silver Fleet; the day will continue in the late afternoon with the highly anticipated lottery which will award a long list of prizes, the most coveted of which will be a complete hull offered by Cantiere Faccenda, partner of the event. The rule dictates that, once the lucky winner has finished using it, the boat remains in the possession of the yacht club for which he is a member.
