Everything is ready in Riva del Garda for the great show of the Garda Opti Meeting: starting with the Rothoblaas Sprint Race

Riva del Garda – Excitement, anticipation and concentration: these are the moods that run through the hundreds of young helmsmen gathered in Riva del Garda in view of the most classic of international youth sailing events: the Garda Opti Meeting, an event sponsored by Fraglia Vela Riva that this year celebrates its forty-third edition with the important new feature of the Rothoblaas Sprint Race.

Scheduled for the coming weekend, the Rothoblaas Sprint Race was designed to introduce the great youth sailing event sponsored by Fraglia Vela Riva in a dynamic and original way. What sets it apart from the rest is its particular format that provides, at the end of each race, for the elimination of half of the worst-ranked participants, until the fleet is formed, which, made up of about ten sailors, will compete for the overall victory on Sunday.

At present, there are about eighty registered participants in the Rothoblaas Sprint Race, representing sixteen nations, but registrations will also be collected throughout today.

We had been wondering for a few seasons how we could make the Garda Opti Meeting experience even more incisive and unforgettable, especially considering the fact that in the days before the regattas Riva del Garda is subject to a real invasion: this is how the idea of an original side event like the Rothoblaas Sprint Race was born, which transforms the Garda Opti Meeting into a ten-day event instead of the usual four. We are in fact convinced that sailing can represent an important boost for tourism, even during the low season. By extending the event over two weekends we involve a higher number of athletes and companions and can guarantee a greater continuity of tourist presences. This will not only enrich the experience of all participants, but will also have a significant economic impact: this year alone the estimated attendance is over 35,000” explains the president of Fraglia Vela Riva, Andrea Camin.
