Fraglia Vela Riva and Suzuki renew their partnership
Riva del Garda – One year after the start of their collaboration, Fraglia Vela Rive and Suzuki announce their desire to continue their joint journey, renewing a partnership that has brought great satisfaction to both of these important international nautical entities.
Founded in 1928 by Gabriele D’Annunzio, Fraglia Vela Riva is one of the most active sailing clubs in the competitive sailing scene, boasting a Gold Star and a Silver Star for Sporting Merit, as well as a Guinness World Record and a World Sailing President Development Award awarded by virtue of the Garda Optimist Meeting, the largest single-class regatta in the world, organized for forty-three years by the Riva association.
Born in 1909 from an entrepreneurial idea by Michio Suzuki, Suzuki is today a multinational, leader in the production of automobiles, motorcycles and outboard motors: substantial evolution for a company born as a factory for the production of textile looms. In 1920 the Suzuki Loom Works laboratory became Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Co, where the first motorized bicycle, the Power Free, the first automobile, the Suzulight, and the first outboard, the D55, were produced. Since then, the industrial activity has continued its incessant path of growth, based on technology, reliability, design and innovation.
Committed to designing environmentally friendly products and technologies, Suzuki is able to reduce consumption and emissions: an eco-sustainable commitment aimed not only at products, but at completely rethinking all its activities, using every available resource without impacting the environment.
The “Suzuki Environmental Vision 2050” plan, based on four significant environmental themes (limitation of climate change, air conservation, conservation of water resources and circulation of resources), has attracted great interest, setting objectives to be achieved by 2050:
– objective of reducing harmful emissions by up to 90% thanks to the creation of products that emit less CO₂;
– purification of the water used for production before it is discharged, for a sustainable use of water resources, especially where these are limited, up to the complete reduction of water use in the industrial process;
– energy saving in the production cycle with the use of renewable energy in all plants around the world, to limit climate change;
– the circular use of products that use natural resources thanks to the recycling and treatment of production waste.
A program that fits in with the line followed by Fraglia Vela Riva which has always paid great attention to green aspects, starting from the waters of Garda and its ecosystem, focusing on the use of geo-positioned buoys and tools such as the Seabin, waste collection baskets that float in surface water.
It is on the sharing of these values that the partnership between Suzuki and Fraglia Vela Riva, made possible also thanks to the support of the Special Motor Service dealer in Verona in charge of maintenance, has been renewed.
A collaboration that has seen Fraglia Vela Riva choose Suzuki outboards to equip the Focchi inflatable boats in its company fleet. Among these outboards, there are:
– the Suzuki DF140B, equipped with the #lavalacqua system (Suzuki Micro Plastic Collector), capable, during normal navigation, of filtering microplastics dissolved in water;
– the new license-free DF40A RR, the only outboard in its category that mounts an oil-bath timing chain, with automatic tensioner, which does not require periodic maintenance.
The collaboration will also continue the scientific implications related to it and will also be reflected in the promotion of “Educational” reserved for the youngest, during which topics such as the environment and ‘green’ technologies will be discussed and cleaning activities of public spaces, such as beaches, will be organized.
“The reliability of the vehicles used by coaches, volunteers and workers is of fundamental importance for a club that carries out its daily activities in the water: the Fraglia Vela Riva vehicles record over 6,000 hours of total annual activity and the Suzuki outboards that we use have proven to be unique in terms of performance and reliability. Features supported by a technology that aims to protect the environment and which have laid the foundations for the renewal of the partnership between Suzuki and Fraglia Vela Riva” this is the comment of Andrea Camin, president of Fraglia Vela Riva.
“The partnership with Fraglia Vela Riva – says Paolo Ilariuzzi, Director of the Motorcycle and Marine Division of Suzuki – is a source of pride for Suzuki, which has the opportunity to cooperate in sustainable projects and to power the club’s vehicles with outboards that, thanks to the #consumameno (Suzuki Lean Burn) system, guarantee low consumption and so
