From the Sailing School to the Olympics: great participation for the conference organized by Fraglia Vela Riva
Riva del Garda – Great participation, attracted by exceptional guests, animated From the Sailing School to the Olympics, a conference organized by Fraglia Vela Riva to tell the story of the athletes’ journey in the world of sailing, from the first edges in Optimist, to reaching the finish line in five circles.
Moderated by the well-known RAI journalist Giulio Guazzini and hosted on the terrace of the Rivano association, the meeting was opened by representatives of the institutions, including the vice president of the Province of Trento, Francesca Gerosa, and Armando Bronzetti, president of the Garda Trentino Vela consortium. The meeting was animated by Paola Mora, president of CONI Trentino, who spoke about the values of sport, and its importance also in the family and school context, by the Technical Director of the Italian Sailing Federation, Michele Marchesini, who underlined how, this time too, Garda played a strategic role in preparing the sailors for the upcoming Olympics and illustrated how the Italian team is preparing for the Paris 2024 Games.
Then there is space for Olympic champion Alessandra Sensini, currently Technical Director of the National Youth Sailing Team, for Gianni Torboli, an iconic figure of Garda sailing and former Olympian in Atlanta 1996, and for Vasco Renna, father of Niccolò, another athlete selected for next summer’s Games .
Lorenzo Brando Chiavarini, former athlete of Fraglia Vela Riva, specialist in the ILCA 7 class, supported his speech with an engaging video, talked about his competitive career, which began in England, where he had moved with his family several years ago. Chaiavarini confirmed his love for the ILCA 7 and for traditional sailing, which allows you to race at close distances.
Giorgia Bertuzzi, who will race the 49er FX with Jana Germani in Paris, underlined the importance of family on her path to the Olympics.
The series of conferences organized by Fraglia Vela Riva will continue tomorrow, Sunday 24 March, again on the terrace starting at 2.30 pm, with For Una Vela Più Sostenibile, a meeting dedicated to the relationship between the sport of sailing and environmental protection.
