The Day 2 shuffles the fleet: Swedish and Danish are now leaders
Widely predicted by the weather reports, difficult conditions to interpret have shaken the provisional ranking of the Grade 1 Dragon Italian Grand Prix and determined the rotation of the leaders.
After today’s two races, which brought the total to four, and while waiting for the gap to come into play, expected after the fifth regatta, the Swedes of Pilsner (today 1-2) with Jesper Stalheim at the helm. Performance of an absolute level, earning the title of Boat of the Day and copied by the Danish crew of Deja Vu (2-1) who have made important steps forward in the general ranking, of which they currently occupy second position. Another Swedish crew completes the podium, Miss Behavior (3-11), led by Gerard Mitchell and Richard Sydenham.
The British of Fever (22-4) with Diego Negri, who until this morning were second, are holding out in fourth place, while in fifth place are the Portuguese of Easy (20-5), Michael Zankel’s boat which made its debut yesterday making its the third position. To find the leaders of the first hour, the reigning Swiss world champions of 1Quick1 (16-14), you have to scroll down the rankings to sixth place.
The best of the Italians – Yevgen Braslavets’ Transbunker Team – confirms sixteenth place, while Marco Gerbaudo’s Dragondine recovers ground, having gone from nineteenth to seventeenth position and currently second Corinthian, while Guido Garrone’s Japetus, holder of thirty-fifth place, fails to catch up.
Speaking of the second Corinthian, it should be remembered that the Germans of Goldkrank are first, a boat armed by the German Tania Jacobsohn who occupies the fifteenth position in the overall ranking.
The regattas valid for the Grade 1 Dragon Italian Grand Prix, an international event supported by Yanmar which brought thirty-six crews representing five continents to Riva del Garda, will resume tomorrow at 12.
We remind you that the gala dinner is scheduled for tomorrow evening at the Spiaggia degli Ulivi and that the regattas will end on Saturday.
