The Youth Centenary Regatta officially opens the Fraglia Vela Riva’s season
Riva del Garda – Eve time at Fraglia Vela Riva where, between Thursday and Sunday, the fourth edition of the Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda will take place, which has quickly become an early season classic reserved for specialists in the Optimist class.
There are more than one hundred young helmsmen who, representing ten Nations, are ready to animate the event useful, among other things, to prepare participation in the 42nd edition of the Lake Garda Opti Meeting (28-31 March), the flagship event of the Rivano association, which has already exceeded one thousand members.
Among the new features of the 2024 edition of the Youth Centenary Regatta-Faccenda Trophy is the partnership with the Faccenda Shipyard, organizer of the trophy of the same name in the 1990s, when winter Optimist regattas were a rarity. For this reason, it has become a flagship event on the competitive calendar and today joins the Fraglia Vela Riva event, creating an unmissable event, with many prizes up for grabs.
The format of the event includes two days, Thursday and Friday, dedicated to the qualifying series which will consist of a minimum of four tests; the results will determine the composition of the Gold and Silver fleets, which will complete the series of regattas between Saturday and Sunday, when the Youth Centenary Regatta-Trofeo Faccenda will come to a close with the awards ceremony.
“The start of a new competitive season is underlined by the arrival at our headquarters of the very young helmsmen of the Optimist class: in just a few years the Youth Centenary Regatta, thanks to its late winter placement, has become a reference event for the specialists of the class training par excellence. From this edition we are proud of the partnership with a company like the Cantiere Faccenda, which will be giving away one of its hulls during the awards ceremony. The Youth Centenary Regatta also represents an excellent testing ground to verify the state of the art of our organizational machine and the effectiveness of the optimizations studied during the winter months” explains Andrea Camin, president of Fraglia Vela Riva.
