SAILING COURSES FOR YOUNG AND YOUNG PEOPLE
Optimist courses for the very young
For children aged 6 (turned) to 10 years old, weekly courses are provided from Monday to Friday on single Optimist class boats.
The reception of the children will begin at 8.30 am and the course times are from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm (lunch included). Every Monday a new course will start and our instructors will evaluate the level of the students by forming homogeneous groups.

Boat license
Fraglia Vela Riva is recognized as a “nautical education centre” by the Italian Sailing Federation. Nautical license courses are organized within 12 miles and without any limit from the coast.

Suggested clothing
For trips into the water it is recommended to bring with you: sunscreen, soft shoe with white rubber sole, windbreaker, cap with visor, a complete change of clothes. The life jacket is provided by Fraglia Vela Riva.
Coaches
Mauro Berteotti
Technical Director and ILCA Coach
Born and raised as a sailor in Riva del Garda under the guidance of Norberto Foletti, he was a coach at the Circolo Nautico Amici della Vela in Cervia, where he won events and national titles in the Optimist class. In 2010 he was chosen by the Italian Optimist Class as Technical Accompanist of the National Team at the European Championship, reaching the victory of the women’s title. Since 2011 he has collaborated with passion in the Fraglia competitive group, which has won all the possible Optimist national titles, including the 2013 Team title. Two athletes have qualified for the World Championships in Riva del Garda, with the victory of the silver in the Team Championships.
Benedetta Boniotti
Optimist Cadets Coach
His sailing experience began with the Optimist, trained by Marcello Meringolo and Mauro Berteotti, then continuing with a brief experience in RS Feva in preparation for the double 420 and 470. At the end of his competitive career he dedicated himself for years to the sailing school, helping children to approach sport and gain experience herself, both at Fraglia Vela Riva and at other clubs (Circolo Velico Ravennate and Naval League of Ostuni). Of her work she says: “Training the pre-competitive team and the cadet team is very stimulating, the objective is to see the transition of growth from the sailing school to the competitive one, training young athletes who hopefully in the future will continue their career that has just begun ”.
Chiara Degli Angioli
RS Feva Coach
Born and raised in Romagna, she began her career on the O’pen Skiff at the age of 10. For a short period she entered the world of doubles with the RsFeva and the 29er and then continued in Laser. Since 2019 you have started doing Orc regattas such as Barcolana, Veleziana, etc. In 2020 she continues in the world of one-design boats, with boats such as J70 and Rs21, winning important titles in various roles such as the Italian Overall, U21 and Women’s Championships. Since 2023, together with an all-female team, she has entered the world of Match Race, winning 3rd place at the European Match Race Championship in Ledro and 1st place at the Italian Women’s Championship. Supported by her own activity, since May 2020, Chiara has been following a team of agonists in RsFeva, with whom in 2022 she won the European, overall and U14 title.
Luigi Rago
29er Coach
He approached the world of sailing at the Naples club, where he participated in various classes such as the Optimist, the 420 and the 470 as a competitor. Later, he sailed on larger boats, such as monotypes, offshore boats and maxi-yachts. He began training the Optimist at the Posillipo nautical club in Naples and coached the 420 zonal group of Lake Garda for 8 years, achieving notable results at both a national and international level, including 2 silvers at the ISAF world championships, 2 bronzes at the Europeans and 7 Italian championships in each category. He later devoted himself to 49er training and won gold at the FX Junior World Championship. Currently, he is a member of FVR’s 29er team and earned a silver at the world championship. He also has experience coaching the 49er class in Olympic campaigns.
Marco Giangrande
Optimist Juniores Coach
Marco Giangrande began his sailing experience at the age of 6 on Optimist in Ostia, continuing until he was 13. Subsequently he dedicated a year and a half to the Laser class and subsequently actively participated
to some competitions with the hobicat16 team before interrupting his competitive activity and starting coaching. He was coached by Simone Ricci, who encouraged him to pursue a coaching career. From the age of 14 to 18, he began coaching at the sailing school at the Tongazzi Marine Village, deepening his skills and consolidating his experience. He subsequently shared his knowledge by coaching the competitive Optimist. In 2021 he took first and second place as a coach in the President’s Cup, demonstrating his ability to pass on his skills to his athletes. After having collaborated with Tognazzi Marine Village and the Circolo Nautico Brenzone, he is currently active at Fraglia Vela Riva, continuing to share his passion and expertise in the world of sailing.
Luca Bonomo
Physiotherapist
Physiotherapist specializing in manual therapy, sports physiotherapy and osteopathy.
Role in FVR: performance and accident prevention manager.
Fraglia Vela Riva project: evaluation and monitoring of the harmonious development of the young athlete.
I carry out myofascial treatments using various techniques and tools. Graston technique, splint, trigger point, kinesiotaping. Manual therapy and osteopathy for pre- or post-competition rebalancing.
